The side effects of HCG, unfortunately, if you’re looking for a medication that carries numerous adverse effects you’ve come to the wrong place. HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is one of the most side effect friendly medications known to mankind. Of course, some may find slight issues to occur, but they are few and far between and should not be anything of serious note.
If there were an HCG commercial you wouldn’t hear the list of side effects that’s commonly shared in almost petrifying fashion surrounding most medications. You’ve heard and seen the commercials, they’ll talk about the life changing effects and then things quickly take a turn for the worse “may cause vomiting, tremors, insomnia, ulcers, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, gastrointestinal discomfort, rash, headaches, anxiety, chronic fatigue, dizziness” and so on and so on the list goes. When it comes to the side effects of HCG, none of these are possible.
Primary Side Effects of HCG:
The primary side effects of HCG are the same as that of testosterone. HCG has the ability to increase estradiol levels due to the increase in testosterone it can stimulate and the resulting aromatization. High estradiol levels can lead to gynecomastia, excess water retention, and in some cases, high blood pressure if water retention becomes severe. How great the aromatization rate is will be dictated in part by dose, but genetics dictates more than anything else. Most will not have an issue with HCG related aromatization. If this is an issue and the individual is undergoing testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) this problem can be taken care of by the use of simple anti-estrogen medications. Any TRT program that is worth its salt will include anti-estrogens from the Aromatase Inhibitor (AI) family when necessary.
Excess LH:
The primary purpose of HCG is to mimic Luteinizing Hormone (LH); in fact, in simplistic terms we can call HCG synthetic LH. Unfortunately, it is very easy for the body to become dependent on it for its LH needs. For the individual suffering from secondary hypogonadism, this won’t be much of a concern; he doesn’t produce enough LH to begin with. However, if HCG doses are too high for too long and the individual saturates the body with HCG, he may very well become unresponsive to the hormone.
HCG is a fantastic hormone and it’s one that’s also used by anabolic steroid users on a regular basis. In such cases, it is used more for post cycle recovery or on cycle protection. It’s never used for actual enhancement purposes. However, more anabolic steroid users do more damage to their body with improper HCG use than they ever do with anabolic steroids. It’s something to keep in mind; you do not want to use abundant amounts. Use the right amounts, the amounts prescribed and you’ll enjoy the benefits, and more than likely, you’ll enjoy them without side effects.
